In certain key respects, the EDITT Tower is closely related to both the BATC Tower and particularly the Nagoya 2005 Tower, with the common themes being in the realm of vertical urbanism and exposition uses. The Urban Redevelopment Authority of Singapore Competition for an Exposition Tower provided Yeang with a similar opportunity to the Nagoya project, but on a smaller scale and on a restncted comer site in the Singapore urban downtown of major commercial tower forms.

While meeting the client's programme requirements for an exposition tower, including retail, exhibition spaces, auditona and related facilities, Yeang used this as an integrated basis to demonstrate much of his agenda for an ecological architecture The pursuit of this ideal, through his many projects, leads to the establishment of his comprehensive vision of the 'green skyscraper' The EDITT Tower is thereto"? significant as an exemplar of the g'een skyscraper' agenda, which has a major impact on the design and the method of fc assembly, operation and future fe as a reusable framework

The nature of Yeang's ecological desir and its foundation of interconnected"«-' is explored in the introductory essav a*: the direct application of those pnnopl« is evidenced in the EDITT Tower more completely than in any previous pro»^ It is therefore very much a part of Yea"i-evolution and the direct application or thought, just as Menara Mesiroa«* benchmark project in the earlier food»"« skyscraper senes
