When writing the report it is important to bear in mind who will read it.
The readership of a condition survey report can be very broad, so it is important that it be written as a comprehensive technical appraisal in a clear digestible form. Technical language may be used but this should be defined and explained so that the document may be understood by a less informed reader. It is advisable to use photographic and sketch illustrations to convey or illustrate information in a readily digestible form (Figure 3.20).
The report should be written using concise language. The subjects should be set out in short paragraphs, numbered for ease of reference. Headings and subheadings should be used to break up the text and permit speed reading and quick location of relevant information.
