Bridgeport Condominiums are the first privately developed residential projec the Portland River District whose landscaped courtyard is open to the put The courtyard is layered between two residential buildings and demonstrate melding of public and private urban spaces.

An impressive, yet transparent steel trellis celebrates the north entrance to courtyard and invites passers-by to explore the space. A central paved corr leads visitors through the courtyard with the least amount of intrusion into private terrace perimeter. Plantings slope up toward the building face to r conceal the private patios that lie behind the Japanese Holly (Ilex crenata) he: Blue Fescue (Festuca glauca, Birch (Betula sp.) and Italian Cypress (Cupres Sempervirens) provide rhythm and framed views through the exterior 'hallw Lighting fixtures suspended from cables above the courtyard delinea* pedestrian public zone and create a sense of ceiling. The placement of the fixtures also reduces light intrusion into the private residential units.
