This historic stone winery-turned-residence inspires the gardens' des : vocabulary evoking the feel of a romantic south of France retreat. The bac- c; • of the landscape palette is the existing olives, palms, oaks and redwoocs locally harvested stone as the primary material used in constructing the he—« garden walls, paths, fountains and spa. Using these materials, the garce~ divided into a series of 'rooms'. Guests are beckoned toward the entry terrace by a pair of lamps sitting upon stone columns. The rear garden is :e- r ~ from the house with a series of stepping stones leading to its heart. tre : : and pool terrace, surrounded by fan palms and connecting to an adjace * enclosed by a crescent arbor. Beyond lies the guest house with a private s: overlooking the tennis court and perfectly sited toward views beyond.
