Monotonic tests on two plain floor samples have evidenced the better performances of tongue-and-grove connections among boards. The analysis of results pointed out the need of strengthening and stiffness of the horizontal structures, when floors are considered restrained as in common buildings.
A simplified numerical model, calibrated with the experimental results, has shown a very good agreement with the experiments, both at local and global level, and will be considered for the design and the predictive analysis on the further samples.
The research will prosecute with monotonic and cyclic tests on timber floor panels strengthened with different methods (double boardings, metal diagonal strips or diagonal board, etc.).
