Heat distribution

The quantity of supply air for individual rooms is set according to indoor air quality requirements; the supply temperature is usually not set for individual rooms. Furthermore, not all rooms have supply air outlets. Internal and solar gains may result in the heat supply exceeding the heating demand in a specific room. The ventilation supply can only respond to the overall heating demand of the entire zone. This is less problematic than might be expected because high-performance houses tend to have homogenous room temperatures since the thermal resistances between rooms are much smaller than between the rooms and the ambient.
