Add Detail Gradually

Your first drawings don't have to be accurate or beautiful. As you create a design that meets your needs and pleases you, you can gradually add detail. Make your outline reflect the width of your bale walls, and draw doorways and windows to scale. Add thickness to interior dividing walls. Consider the direction in which doors will open. Sketch in permanent fixtures like sinks, baths, and toilets, and add in counters, built-in shelving, closets, beds, desks, and tables. Think about where you can place items like stereos, televisions, or computers. In two-story designs, draw in your stairs and landings. Don't forget mechanical systems. Consider plumbing routes, heating devices, and passive solar features.
