As a work party supervisor, you should expect to spend most of your time acting as a supervisor and trouble-shooter and not plan to do much hands-on building. Ideally, each separate crew will have a knowledgeable leader, but since this is not always possible, be sure that you circulate around the work site and keep tabs on the progress of each phase and crew. Don't be afraid to correct people in their work, but do so positively. In the end, it is your building, and you should not settle for work below your standards. Always be willing to re-explain, to show by example, and to reassign people who are not enjoying their tasks. As a site supervisor you will be incredibly busy. Remember to take breaks, drink, and eat throughout the day and encourage your volunteers to do the same.
